Simon De Boer

Our lives are about chance, as it is unfeasible to see beyond a single moment. My practice exemplifies and embodies the messy, disjointed human experience by playfully combining painting and sculptural using found materials and examining themes like place, instability, social perspective and fate.

Simon DeBoer is an Australian nationalized visual artist who has been based in Tokyo for three years.

He has had two solo shows and exhibits across Australia and Japan.

Simon also works freelance as a graphic designer, in house for an international school and contributes writing to Tokyo Art Beat about Japanese visual art culture and setting.

JESSE FREEMAN

Jesse Freeman is from Baltimore, MD USA. He has lived in Japan for 11 years.

Jesse shoots and self develops his film photography in black and white. He exhibits frequently in Japan, Australia, and Sweden. He also writes and directs short films and has done 8 films in the last four years that have all screened in Tokyo.

Jesse additionally has been studying ikebana under the Sogetsu School for the last 8 years.

With these mediums, he carries a minimal, geometric and compositional aesthetic approach to his work.

ABOUT

Ritual Comic book launch.

A comic book collaboration between writer Jesse Freeman and painter Simon De Boer depicting the morning thoughts of a man as he commutes to work.
To support this event we will be selling the comic book for ¥700 with a limited edition of 50. The exhibition will be supported by a display of developmental drawings and a projection loop inspired by the story.
